Will two families actually have privacy?

Yes. The two apartments are on separate floors, each with its own stairway access, kitchen and bathroom. You share the garden and the pool, not a wall.

Is it safe for our kids near the pool?

The garden is fully fenced. The pool itself is not separately fenced or gated, so supervision is the guests' responsibility.

Can we manage the stairs?

There are stairs from the garden entrance up to the front door, and stairs inside connecting the two apartments. The house is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.

Two weeks with no washing machine?

Each apartment has washing machine use available on request.

Is the north shore too far from the good bits?

Gera Lario is 8 minutes by car (25 minutes on foot, downhill), with a beach, sailing and surf school. Domaso is 10 minutes for the supermarket. See the north shore page for real drive times to Bellagio, Varenna and Como.

Is it safe to pay someone directly?

Do we need a car?

Yes. The walk down to Gera Lario is a steep 25 minutes, and daily errands are easier with one.

Is it too hot in August without air conditioning?

There's no air conditioning, but ceiling fans, stone walls and sunshading keep the house cool through August.
